About Mermade Baubles

Hi, my name is Jennifer Chernoff. I have been making this type of jewelry since 1997. I am married to Josh and he created this website for me.
I started Mermade Baubles after I had our daughter in 2002. In 2004, we welcomed our son in to the world & spent the next year honing our talents, he as a web developer and I as an artist.
I was raised in the Columbia River Gorge and he in Portland, OR. We met and lived in the North West until Fall 2007 when we moved closer to his family in the Mid West. We would like to go back someday, but for now we are content experiencing something different.
Every Mermade Baubles piece will have a pretty explanatory description
If you ever feel like you need to know more, you may feel free to email me. All the wire I use is Sterling Silver and occasionally plated silver earring wires are used. I can use golf fill wire at your request for a custom piece. In order to arrange the jewelry, I like to mix textures, shapes and colors. I feel like the endless combinations give every piece a unique identity.
The name Mermade Baubles was derived from the term “aquatic inspired jewelry” I came up with the name while driving along the Columbia River Gorge in the Pacific North West.
I am particular about naming things, as you may have noticed, with the names I have given my jewelry. It is difficult to not be inspired by the rivers that carve out the Cascade Mountain Range and flow all the way to the ocean. I wanted a name that conveyed the aquatic inspiration I feel when I make jewelry. My wonderment of nature, wildlife & fantasy creatures such as fairies and mermaids, give all the jewelry a colorful personality that includes visible texture, playful movement and unexpected -or expected- pattern.
